I've been following Troy Hunt for many years learning a lot about security in software development, and the many other interesting topics he posts about.

Something he mentioned a long time ago in a blog article was all about how he'd essentially document the projects he worked on, and repurpose the knowledge into a blog article. This way he was multiplying the impact of the work he was doing.

This seemed like such a good idea to me... but I never did anything with it. Recently I watched a video by Ali Abdaal where he mentioned this again, also as a quote from Gary V. I figure it's time I took this advice, so here's my first article on my new personal website.

I'm doing the work anyway, why not amplify the impact

One of the things I've always been keen on doing is helping other business owners succeed. Not long ago I realized that this was actually one of the main things I enjoyed in my software development projects - I enjoyed seeing the business results and improvements of the projects we were building, more than the coding itself.

So with this platform, I'm going to start documenting what I'm doing, from the work I'm doing to grow my main business, my journey to become an investor and trader, and my experiences traveling and living as a remote worker/digital nomad. I figure if I'm doing the work anyway, why not amplify the impact by sharing what I'm doing, and hopefully this can help someone else out there.

content creation is hard...

I've battled with the idea of creating a personal website for quite some time, mainly wondering what I would write about. My skills are really more focused on the areas of taking an idea and implementing or improving efficiencies in a process. Not necessarily all the new ideas. So I always thought content creation is hard.

But reflecting on this idea of documenting what you're doing, whether that's the work you do in your main day job, or the side hustle you're starting up, or even a new hobby or skill you're learning, simply documenting and sharing your experience is actually such a brilliant way to find things to write about. And the benefit is, others can learn from your own experiences.

If you got this far... thanks for reading!

I'm going to continue sharing my experiences here of building and growing and scaling a 7 figure business, investing and trading the stock markets, and traveling the world, living and working remotely as a South African citizen.
